What Can Academia Learn from Disability Justice?

Location

Description

Disability Justice was created by activists and queer and trans disabled people of the global majority as an alternative to ableist academic and activist spaces. In contrast to the disability rights movement or disability studies as an academic field, disability justice centers access, and care as part of an intersectional understanding of disability and ableism. What kind of academic spaces and communities can we create if we think beyond the bare minimum of legal accessibility guidelines?
