Join us at our general body meeting to hear from guest speaker, Tanvi Gadhia!
Tanvi graduated from UMBC with an Environmental Studies major in 2009 and has done some amazing things since! She now works as UMBC's Sustainability Coordinator. She will talk about her past jobs and experiences as well as about ways you can get involved with sustainability at UMBC.

Tanvi Gadhia ’09 is the Environmental Sustainability Coordinator, and reports to Vice President Lynne Schaefer. She is a 2009 graduate of UMBC, with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. She is currently working on a M.S. degree in Environmental Science and Policy at Johns Hopkins University.
Tanvi Gadhia worked as a community organizer for clean energy in Baltimore with the Maryland League of Conservation Voters prior to becoming UMBC’s first Environmental Sustainability Coordinator. Prior to this, Tanvi worked on research, advocacy and litigation for the Center for Food Safety and Technology Assessment in DC and national outreach with the Union of Concerned Scientists’ Food and Environment Program. Tanvi also worked with Navdanya Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology in India in efforts to protect the rights of indigenous populations and seed sovereignty. As a naturalist at Oregon Ridge Nature Center and environmental educator at the Audubon Society she also developed outdoor experiential learning programs. Tanvi was very active while a UMBC undergraduate student, in leadership roles in the Students for Environmental Awareness, the Maryland Student Climate Coalition, and as president of the Geography and Environmental Studies Council of Majors. She played an active role in initiating and executing many campus sustainability advances including the environmental alternative service break and the community garden initiative.
