Description

Manshin: Ten Thousand Spirits (2013)
Director: Chan-Kyong Park

Manshin: Ten Thousand Spirits is a documentary/drama/fantasy film about a woman who was shunned for being possessed by spirits as a girl. Based on the life story of Korea’s most famous living shaman, Kim Keum-hwa, this film shows how she grows to be a great shaman who embraces the pain of all people, and how she comes to be honored as a national treasure of Korea with her outstanding artistic talents throughout Korea’s tumultuous history. Required for MLL 315 Images of Korea through Contemporary Korean Films, and recommended to the students in Korean language courses.
