Description
Faculty & Staff Professional Development Day 2016
As we navigate today’s increasingly interconnected and diverse world and workplace, critical to our success is the ability to respectfully relate to others different from ourselves. When we do this well, we help create safe communities that foster inclusive excellence.
This engaging workshop, led by Dr. Omékongo Dibinga, Author, Diversity Educator, Consultant and Founder of UPstander International, explores the importance of achieving true cultural diversity and respect in the workplace. Over the course of this workshop, participants will:
Reflect and probe deeply to uncover their own cultural and unconscious biases;
Learn basic principles of respect and ways to engage in conversations of curiosity with those different from themselves;
Explore methods for having difficult, but productive conversations; and
Bring inclusion strategies back to the workplace to apply to various business processes and interpersonal scenarios.
Join us in learning ways we can work together to make UMBC a safe, respectful community for all of our faculty, staff, and students!
Registration and Continental Breakfast starting at 8:00 a.m. Workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon and Book Signing from 12:00 noon to 12:30. Supervisors are asked to encourage employees to attend.
