UMBC’s Christian Tremblay and Audrey Andrist team up for a evening of stellar chamber music featuring:

Violinist Christian Tremblay has been enjoying a diverse and exciting career as performer and pedagogue. He has been heard in many Canadian cities including Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City as a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and orchestra player. One of his recitals was broadcast nationally by La Chaîne Culturelle de Radio-Canada. In the United States, he has notably performed recitals in New York, Baltimore and Washington D.C. After a performance at the French Embassy in Washington D.C., the late Joseph McLellan of The Washington Post called his playing “eloquent and technically flawless.” In Europe, Christian Tremblay has been heard in recitals in Fontainebleau, and was invited to be concertmaster of the Orchestre de Chambre du Conservatoire Americain, under the baton of Philippe Entremont, for two consecutive summers. He was also awarded a special prize for the best performance of a contemporary work during that festival. He is an Affiliate Artist at UMBC.

Hailed as a “stunning pianist with incredible dexterity” (San Francisco Classical Voice), Canadian pianist Audrey Andrist has thrilled audiences around the globe, from North America to Japan, China and Germany with her “passionate abandon,” “bright energy,” and “great intelligence.” She has performed in many of North America’s most prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Place des Arts in Montreal, Chicago’s Ravinia Festival, and Alice Tully Hall in New York. She is a member of Strata, a trio with her husband, James Stern, violin, and Nathan Williams, clarinet, recipients of a major 2009 grant from the Rauch Foundation. She is also a member of the Verge Ensemble in Washington, D.C., and the Stern/Andrist Duo with her husband, recently celebrating their twentieth year of performances together. An avid performer of new music with many world premieres to her credit, Ms. Andrist can be heard on over a dozen recordings of both standard and modern repertoire on the Albany, Centredisques, Centaur Records and New Focus labels, among others. Andrist has taught at the Regina Conservatory, the Cleveland Institute of Music, the University of the Pacific, and Washington Conservatory. She is an Affiliate Artist at UMBC.
