The Center for Research, Innovation and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) presents Airi Yoshioka, Lisa Cella and Carla Viviana Coleman Cordova. The event recognizes recent CD releases by Professors Yoshioka and Cella, and a book publication by Professor Coleman Cordova.
Hailed by the Gramophone Magazine as “brilliant and intrepid”, violinist Airi Yoshioka has concertized throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and Canada as a recitalist, soloist and chamber musician. She is the founding member of Damocles Trio and Modigliani Quartet and has performed and recorded with the members of Emerson, Brentano and Arditti Quartets. Professor Yoshioka will discuss and play excerpts from her new CD Sueños Místicos. A champion of contemporary music, Lisa Cella has performed all over the world in many ensembles. She is Artistic Director of soundON: A Festival of Modern Music, and is on the faculty at Soundscape Composition and Performance Exchange in Maccango, Italy and Nief-Norf in Knoxville, TN. Professor Cella will discuss and play excerpts from her new CD, Full Circle: NOISE plays the music of Stuart Saunders Smith. Carla Viviana Coleman Cordova is an educator, researcher, and graphic designer. Professor Coleman Cordova was one of five experts who contributed an essay about the Microsoft HoloLens to a special feature on the best-designed products of all time, recently published in Scientific American, Salon, and The Christian Science Monitor. Professor Cordova Coleman will discuss her new book Visual Experiences: A Concise Guide to Digital Interface Design, published in 2017 by CRC Press.
