Description
The UMBC Department of Theatre presents Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, directed by Eve Muson, who sets this production of one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies in 19th century Russia at Christmas time.
Washed ashore after a shipwreck, Viola disguises herself as her twin brother, whom she presumes to be dead. Gender-confusion, mistaken identity, and love triangles abound: Viola (disguised as her brother) is in love with Count Orsino, who is in love with Countess Olivia, who is in love with Viola. Everything is put right with the arrival of her twin, and everyone is the wiser for having played love’s fools.
With sumptuous and adorable costumes, musical interludes of Russian folk songs and carols, sword-fighting, and snow in abundance, the story is told with riotous disorder!
Tickets: $15 general admission, $10 students/seniors, available online or at the box office one hour before performances.
