Selections from One Hundred Years Later-- Impressions
The October Revolution, which ushered in the Soviet Era, brought both unimaginable persecution and astonishing artistic expression.
This exhibit, which concludes its New York-Washington DC tour on December 10th at UMBC, featuresworks by contemporary Russian artists in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of the 1917 coup in Russia.
The works, on loan to the UMBC gallery for one night only, reveal the impact that both the officially-sanctioned Soviet Realism and the clandestine avant-garde movement have had on the lives of these celebrated Russian artists.
The viewing is part of the event Beauty Will Save the World: A New Year's Ball.
