Baltimore Classical Guitar Society: Made in Baltimore
30th Anniversary Commissioning Concert
Location
Earl and Darielle Linehan Concert Hall
Date & Time
February 25, 2018, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Description
To celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2017–2018, the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society presents “Made in Baltimore,” for which BCGS’ artistic director Manuel Barrueco has selected four Baltimore composers — Gabriel Bouche Caro, Jordan Chase, Edmund Scott Miller, and Samuel Winnie — to write new works for the classical guitar.
All compositions were inspired by Baltimore, and the whole project received the title “Made in Baltimore,” as it is entirely Baltimore based: established Baltimore composers nominated young and rising Baltimore composers for commissions. The four selected young Baltimore composers were paired with young and rising Baltimore guitarists, and also with Baltimore mentors who will assist in the preparation of the world premieres. Therefore, “Made in Baltimore.”
Join BCGS for this 60-minute concert in which the composers will be interviewed on stage about their commissions and the commissioning experience, immediately before the world-premiere of each of their works. BCGS hopes you support this worthy project by purchasing tickets to this event. Concerts are meant to be shared, so please consider bringing friends to this performance!
Admission is $15 general, and $10 for full-time students, members of the Baltimore Classical Guitar Society, and for seniors 65 and older. Tickets are available here through BCGS.
