The Department of Gender and Women’s Studies is happy to announce that Deepa Iyer, South Asian American Activist, and our 2018 Korenman Lecture speaker, will be giving a workshop for faculty during her campus visit this March!
The workshop will run from 3 – 4:15pm in Fine Arts 011.
Iyer will explore how the academic community, student leaders, and diversity and inclusion staff can create welcoming and equitable spaces on campus especially as our racial landscape changes. The workshop will be an opportunity to understand basic concepts and strategies that are rooted in an anti-racism approach, with an emphasis on countering Islamophobia, using race-plus analyses, and implementing best pedagogical practices to encourage allyship and solidarity.
