Description
The Department of Gender and Women’s Studies is happy to announce that Deepa Iyer, South Asian American Activist, and our 2018 Korenman Lecture speaker, will be giving a workshop for students during her campus visit this March!
The workshop will run from 12 – 1:15pm in Commons 331.
Iyer will explore how the academic community and student leaders can create welcoming and equitable spaces on campus especially as our racial landscape changes. The workshops will be an opportunity to understand basic concepts and strategies that are rooted in an anti-racism approach, with an emphasis on countering Islamophobia, using race-plus analyses, and implementing best practices to encourage allyship and solidarity.
Co-Sponsored by: the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Office of the Provost, the Dresher Center for the Humanities, the Women’s Center and the Departments of: Africana Studies, American Studies, Asian Studies, Global Studies, Media and Communication Studies, and Modern Languages and Linguistics and Intercultural Communication.
