Description
The Department of Music presents Timeless String Quartets, a recital of works composed in Vienna between 1825 and 1905 and performed by Christian Tremblay (violin), Nicholas Currie(violin), Lisa Steltenpohl (viola), and Gita Ladd(cello).
The program will open with the charming and witty Italian Serenade by Hugo Wolf, followed by Anton Webern’s Langsamer Satz, reflecting his late-romantic expressive language while he was a student of Arnold Schoenberg. These brief works prepare listeners for Beethoven’s masterpiece from 1825: the String Quartet No. 15, Op. 132, an extraordinary journey of incredible depth and timelessness.
Tickets: $15 general admission, $10 seniors, $5 students, free for UMBC Music majors and Music faculty/staff, available online or at the box office one hour before the performance.
