Banned Books Week Discussion

Speaking Out for Banned Books: Countering Censorship...

Location

Library and Gallery, Albin O. Kuhn : Seventh Floor

Date & Time

September 26, 2018, 12:00 pm1:00 pm

Description

Throughout our history, books have been targeted for remove in libraries and schools for their "controversial" content. Banned Books Week--September 23-29, 2018--aims to highlight the ramifications of censorship while also promoting the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox, unpopular, or taboo.

Join students Tanya Ramsey, Kara Gavin, Asia Nicholson, and Alexia Petasis for this exciting and informative panel, to be moderated by Dr. Christopher Varlack, as we discuss censorship and the silencing of stories. Light refreshments will be served. For more information, please see the attached flyer.

This even is sponsored by the Individualized Study Program; the Honors College; the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; the English Department; and Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery's Committee on Social Media and Outreach.
