Description
About
The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Health Administration and Policy (SAHAP) offers a degree program leading toward a Master of Arts in Applied Sociology. Additionally, we offer Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in the Nonprofit Sector and the Social Dimensions of Health, which can be acquired simultaneously with the M.A. An Accelerated Bachelor's/Master's program is available for advanced undergraduate students.
Our programs focus on the "practical side" of sociology and the acquisition of analytic skills for career development. Our
graduates are trained for work in a variety of applied settings by
developing sociological knowledge, building an applied research skill
set, and gaining opportunities for professional growth.
Graduates of our programs are employed in many professional settings, including public and private organizations involved in social research, social policy, and program development.
Program foci include: health, illness, and medicine; aging and the life course; diversity, gender, and culture; and applied research methods.
