On Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 11:30 AM to 12:45 PM in the Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery, we will be hosting an exciting and informative talk entitled, "Memories of a Hidden Child: A Multi-Generational Look at the Holocaust," featuring Les Horan--a jazz musician and teacher in New York--and his son, Rabbi Gavriel Horan--the UMBC Jewish Learning Connection Religious Council Adviser.
During WWII, the Final Solution to the Jewish Question was a plan developed in Nazi Germany for the extermination of Jews--what is now known as the Holocaust. In order to escape these events, many, like Les Horan, went into hiding. Forced to pass as both Christian and female, Horan grew up unaware of his religious and ethnic background, resulting in an inherited sense of shame in his son. Both father and son will join us for this multi-generational look at the Holocaust, the history of passing, and the journey to discovering and returning to their ethnic roots. Join us for this informative event. Light refreshments will be served.
