Description
The Department of Visual Arts presens a visiting artist lecture by Martha Colburn.
Born in rural Pennsylvania, Martha Colburn is a self-taught filmmaker and artist, addressing political and social ideologies through animated collage and mixed-media arts. She has completed over 50 films, music videos, and installations. Based in Amsterdam and New York City, she travels extensively to conduct workshops and lectures on her animation technique and works. Her original films and artworks are archived at The Anthology Film Archive in New York City. In 2010 her films joined the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Colburn will present a selection of her work and talk about the creative process behind the work.
