EAC/Archaeology, Inc. is looking for field technicians for a Phase I beginning immediately in Loudoun County, Virginia. Each candidate must be able to conduct pedestrian/shovel test survey, soil recordation, and local artifact and raw material recognition. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in anthropology/archaeology or a related field (or currently be enrolled in such a program), and have some experience with excavation, reading maps, using a compass, recognizing precontact and post-contact artifacts, and describing soil contexts with appropriate terminology and legible writing. All candidates must be able to carry equipment weighing up to 15 pounds while hiking, physically traverse up to 5 miles a day, and conduct shovel testing activities throughout the work day. All staff must be able to conduct field work in a safe, responsible manner.
 
Salary will be $15.75 to $17.36 per hour, dependent on experience. Work duration will be approximately 3 months. Single hotel rooms provided in the project vicinity plus $35.00 per diem (no receipt documentation required). Work hours are M-F, 8am to 4:30pm. Accommodation may be provided over weekends on a case-by-case basis. Mileage reimbursement will be provided if personal vehicles are used to commute to the site daily. These positions will be filled immediately.
 
Must have a current driver’s license and possess a passport, state-certified copy of their birth certificate, or social security card. Must be willing to undergo airport badging background certification.
