Dresher Center Residential Fellowship Program

UMBC Graduate Students: Fall 2013 Applications due August 1

The Dresher Center for the Humanities at UMBC announces a call for applications for two research fellowships for UMBC graduate students working on humanities research projects. The fellowships are open to all UMBC doctoral and master's level students working on a humanities-related research project that will culminate in a dissertation or thesis. Fellows will reside at least two days a week in the Dresher Center and receive up to $1000 to be used for research travel, materials or other directly project-related expenses. They will share an office in the Dresher Center.  Fellows will be expected to conduct a lunchtime discussion of their work for graduate students and faculty towards the end of the fall semester, to participate in other lunchtime faculty research discussions during the semester, to attend a majority of the Humanities Forum events and to participate in other Dresher Center activities, as requested by the Acting Director. Applications are due August 1 and must include a current C.V., a letter of support from the student's research advisor, and a one-page description of the research that will be conducted during the semester. Please include a paragraph on the significance of the work and how it will contribute to humanities scholarship. Send all materials by email by August 1 to Bev Bickel, Acting Director, Dresher Center for the Humanities.
