Sylvia Trent-Adams appointed Acting Surgeon General
Public Policy PhD alum - Alumni of the Year for 2017
Named UMBC Outstanding Alumni of the Year for 2017.
On April 21, 2017, Dr. Sylvia Trent-Adams, PhD 2006, UMBC, was appointed as Acting Surgeon General. In this capacity, she serves as the nation’s Doctor, providing Americans with the best scientific evidence available on how to improve their health and reduce the risk of illness and injury. Dr. Trent-Adams oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, an elite group of more than 6,700 uniformed officer public health professionals working thoughout the federal government whose mission is to protect, promote and advance the health of the U.S. Prior to this new appointment, Dr. Trent-Adams was appointed Deputy Surgeon General in 2015.
Dr. Trent-Adams has been named a UMBC Alumni of the Year for 2017.
